Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 7, BYD officially launched the pre-sale of its latest plug-in hybrid electric sedan model, the Seal 05 DM-i, under the Ocean series. The model is available in three trim levels, with pre-sale prices set at 89,800 yuan, 99,800 yuan, and 109,800 yuan.

The Seal 05 DM-i adopts BYD's signature Ocean Aesthetics, delivering a modern and dynamic appearance. The front features a distinctive wave-like contour with dual L-shaped daytime running lights, enhancing its visual identity. The lower grille incorporates a blacked-out mesh pattern and flanking air intakes, adding a sporty flair.

As for the side, the vehicle showcases a sleek and well-proportioned profile, highlighted by chrome accents around the windows for added sophistication. The Seal 05 DM-i measures 4,780mm in length, 1,837mm in width, and 1,515mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718mm.

The Seal 05 DM-i is powered by BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, combining a 1.5L engine (101hp) with an electric motor (163hp). It is paired with an E-CVT (electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission), delivering seamless power shifts. The sedan is likely to boast a remarkable combined range of over 2,000 kilometers, with fuel consumption as low as 2.95L/100km when operating on depleted battery.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
