According to foreign media reports, a fire recently broke out at Tesla's energy storage system in Tilburg, Netherlands. The fire reportedly occurred in a warehouse on Asteriastraat in the Vossenberg industrial area. Fortunately, thanks to the successful activation of the built-in sprinkler system in the energy storage system and the swift response of the fire department, the fire was quickly brought under control within an hour.
A total of 50 employees were safely evacuated from the site, with no injuries reported.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
Battery Network noted that this is not the first time a fire incident has occurred in Tesla's energy storage business.
In September 2022, a Tesla Megapack energy storage battery system operated by Pacific Gas and Electric Company in Monterey, US, caught fire; in July 2021, a Tesla Megapack energy storage battery fire occurred in Australia. Previously, in 2019, a Tesla energy storage facility in Arizona also experienced a sudden fire...
From the perspective of Tesla's current energy storage business development, Tesla's energy storage product deployments in Q4 2024 reached 11 GWh, setting a new record. The total energy storage installations for 2024 amounted to 31.4 GWh.
Additionally, on December 27, 2024, Tesla's Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory project successfully passed its completion acceptance. The factory is expected to begin production in Q1 2025, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 units of the Megapack ultra-large energy storage battery. The energy storage capacity will reach nearly 40 GWh, equivalent to an hourly power generation of 40 million kWh, which is comparable to the annual electricity consumption of 50,000 households in Shanghai.
