Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 6, GAC AION officially began the pre-sale of its latest model, the AION UT, a compact pure electric hatchback and the third global strategic model under its AION brand. The new car is available in three variants, with pre-sale prices ranging from 89,800 yuan to 109,800 yuan.
The AION UT adopts AION's latest global design language, departing from the brand's usual homey aesthetic. Featuring a short hood and a sloping front profile, the car boasts balanced proportions with a distinctive and playful character designed to appeal to younger buyers. It is offered in six vibrant and unique exterior colors.
At the front end, two irregular daytime running light strips encircle the main headlights, creating a "big-eyed bird" effect. These headlights are seamlessly integrated into the hood. The trapezoidal lower grille, accented with black slats, and the decorative lights shaped like the Chinese character "田", including 2x2 matrix-style LED fog lights, enhance the vehicle's recognizable and dynamic appearance.
The side profile emphasizes short overhangs and a four-wheels-at-corners layout, maximizing cabin space. The A-pillar and roof are accented with white trims, while a special decorative panel on the D-pillar adds a unique touch. The car also features a dual-tone body, semi-hidden door handles, and low-drag two-tone wheels.
Dimensionally, the AION UT measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase.
At the rear, the design is clean and rounded, with a curved rear windshield equipped with a wiper, an irregularly shaped roof spoiler, and sculpted tailgate lines. The rear lights feature an embossed design, combining "C"-shaped red light strips with several square white blocks. This design echoes the fog lights at the front.
Inside, the AION UT embraces a trendy BEV (battery electric vehicle) aesthetic with a floating center console and a large central touchscreen, reducing the number of physical buttons. The cabin is accented with soft-touch materials and matte silver chrome trims on the steering wheel and handles, striking a balance between technology and comfort.
The vehicle is equipped with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen. The infotainment system supports HiCar, CarLink, and CarPlay for seamless smartphone integration. Powered by cloud-based AI large model, the voice assistant offers quick responses and can control navigation, seats, climate, and defogging systems.
Practicality-wise, the interior includes a wireless charging pad, cup holders, and ample storage spaces. The car features a 2+3 seating layout, with cushioned seats. The trunk offers 440 liters of storage, expandable to 1,600 liters with the rear seats folded flat.
The AION UT is powered by a single motor delivering a maximum output of 100 kW and a top speed of 150 km/h. It comes with a 44 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a CLTC-rated range of 420 km.
