CATL, FAW Jiefang to cooperate in new energy commercial vehicle field

FAW Jiefang and CATL recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement under which the two parties will collaborate extensively in the field of new energy commercial vehicles.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FAW Jiefang and CATL recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement under which the two parties will collaborate extensively in the field of new energy commercial vehicles, integrating their strengths to advance product development, resource alignment, R&D projects, industrial ecosystem construction, and business model innovation, according to a post on CATL's WeChat account.

Their joint venture, Jiefang Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd., will play a key role in supporting both stakeholders to achieve a breakthrough in sales of new energy commercial vehicles.

FAW Jiefang, a 71-year-old commercial vehicle manufacturer, was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in May 2020. The company boasts seven major product lines and is actively expanding in the fields of new energy and intelligent connected vehicles. FAW Jiefang is committed to becoming a world-class provider of green and intelligent transportation solutions.

CATL has also been proactive in the commercial vehicle sector, launching its first commercial vehicle-dedicated power battery brand, "CATL TIANXING," which serves logistics, public transportation, and other sectors. It provides solutions for buses, light trucks, heavy trucks, and construction machinery, addressing demands for long range, fast charging, and extended battery life in commercial applications.

CATL said it plans to leverage its leading expertise in core new energy technologies to work with FAW Jiefang in accelerating the development and adoption of advanced battery technologies. Together, they aim to drive the full electrification of the commercial transportation industry.
