Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 27, GAC Trumpchi, a passenger vehicle maker formerly known as GAC Motor, marked a significant milestone as its 4 millionth complete vehicle rolled off the production line, according to a post on GAC Group's WeChat account.
The milestone vehicle is a Trumpchi E9 plug-in hybrid electric MPV. The model hit the market in April this year, starting at 319,800 yuan. The standard version of the Trumpchi E9 features dimensions of 5,212mm in length, 1,893mm in width, and 1,823mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,070mm. It is powered by GAC's high-efficiency 2.0TM engine, delivering a maximum power output of 140 kW and a peak torque of 330 Nm. The E9 is paired with a two-speed DHT transmission system, enhancing the driving experience.
Established in July 2008, GAC Motor, a wholly-owned passenger vehicle subsidiary of GAC Group, is responsible for producing Trumpchi-branded vehicles. Notably, the company underwent a corporate name change on July 26 this year, officially becoming GAC Trumpchi Automobile Co., Ltd. According to GAC Group, this change aligns the company name more closely with its brand identity, strengthening brand recognition and consistency.
In 2024, GAC Trumpchi launched the Trumpchi-Huawei Joint Innovation Program, with its first outcome, the 1 CONCEPT, debuting on September 24. This new vehicle integrates Huawei's intelligent automotive solutions, featuring the HarmonyOS smart cabin system and the Qiankun ADS 3.0 intelligent driving system, representing a significant leap in the fields of electrification and intelligence for GAC Trumpchi.
Following the launch of its EV+ Worry-Free Solution in April, GAC Trumpchi unveiled its new "EV+" new energy vehicle (NEV) platform at the Auto Guangzhou 2024 in November. The platform supports both REEV (range-extended electric vehicle) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) models, utilizing a dual approach of in-house development and external collaboration. The first production model from this platform, the Trumpchi S7, made its debut at the motor show.
Looking ahead to 2025, GAC Trumpchi plans to maintain its dual-technology strategy of independent development and collaboration with Huawei. The company will launch four high-end NEVs equipped with advanced intelligent driving features, spanning sedan, SUV, and MPV categories. Additionally, the automaker will expand into the BEV market and also target the rapidly growing REEV segment, with A-segment REEV and BEV models to be launched in the year.
