PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical's 1.2 Million mt/year Ethylene Unit Achieves Mechanical Completion

Recently, the 1.2 million mt/year ethylene unit of the transformation and upgrading project of PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical Company successfully achieved mechanical completion, marking a significant milestone in the project’s construction. The project commenced in February 2022 and is expected to be completed and delivered in stages from 2024 to 2025, with a total investment of 33.9 billion yuan, including the construction of 21 new refining and chemical units. Once the project reaches full production, the annual total capacity of chemical products will reach 5.28 million mt. This key project is the first large-scale petrochemical project approved during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and is a significant component of both Jilin Province's and PetroChina's 14th Five-Year Plan. The 1.2 million mt/year ethylene unit, as a critical core of the project, will produce 1.2 million mt of polymer-grade ethylene annually. After its commissioning, the total ethylene capacity of Jilin Petrochemical will increase to 1.9 million mt/year, bringing the overall chemical scale and capacity to an advanced level domestically.
