Hainan Mining announced that its Bougouni Lithium Mine in Mali had achieved its 2024 mining and stripping target ahead of schedule.

On December 23rd, Hainan Mining announced that its Bougouni Lithium Mine in Mali had achieved its 2024 mining and stripping target ahead of schedule. The total volume of mining and stripping reached 1.475 million cubic meters, surpassing the originally planned annual target of 1.473 million cubic meters. Among this, raw ore production totaled 215,000 tons, achieving 143% of the annual production plan.

It is anticipated that the Bougouni Lithium Mine's total annual mining and stripping volume in 2024 will reach 1.55 million cubic meters, representing a completion rate of 105.2% of the annual target. Raw ore production is expected to hit 230,000 tons, achieving a 151.5% completion rate for the annual plan.

The mining and stripping project commenced on July 3rd, with the first blasting conducted on August 23rd. By November 26th, the deployment of mixed emulsion explosives vehicles was completed. Next, the Bougouni Lithium Mine plans to further optimize the installation processes for its beneficiation plant and formulate comprehensive commissioning strategies.

Vietnam Aims to Boost Lithium Battery Supply Chain with Stronger Logistics
Vietnam aims to become a key hub in the global lithium battery supply chain, but needs stronger logistics infrastructure to handle sensitive and hazardous goods like lithium batteries safely and efficiently. Logistics challenges include specialised storage, transport and handling systems, especially through major ports such as Hai Phong and Cai Mep, Thi Vai, where current systems lag behind production growth. Effective logistics is seen as crucial to supporting the country’s ambitions in EV and energy storage exports and attracting further investment in battery manufacturing hubs across Vietnam.
