Beijing (Gasgoo)- Autonomous driving technology company WeRide, in collaboration with Guangzhou Bus Group, commenced commercial operation of an autonomous minibus (Robobus) route on the Tianhe section of Guangzhou's BRT system.

This marks the first autonomous minibus service integrated into a central urban BRT system in Guangzhou and China's first nighttime BRT Robobus route in a first-tier city, offering citizens a convenient and efficient new travel option for evening commutes.

The Tianhe BRT route spans approximately 9 kilometers and connects multiple commercial plazas, residential communities, and transportation hubs. Operating from 21:30 to 22:30 nightly, the route runs a single round-trip in a dual-loop mode, enhancing nighttime transit options for city residents.

This milestone is a significant achievement in WeRide's efforts to commercialize autonomous driving solutions and demonstrates the practicality of L4 autonomous driving technology in navigating complex urban traffic scenarios. Since late 2023, WeRide and Guangzhou Bus Group have deployed 50 Robobuses across Guangzhou, establishing 10 commercial autonomous routes.

Beyond Guangzhou, WeRide's Robobuses have been deployed in over 30 cities worldwide, including Beijing, Wuxi, Nanjing, Dalian, Zhuhai, and Singapore. The service has become an integral part of daily life, providing safe, intelligent, and comfortable transportation options for local communities.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
