Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 19, Ganfeng LiEnergy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ganfeng Lithium Group Co., Ltd. (Ganfeng Lithium), one of the world's top producers of the commodity used in new energy vehicles, unveiled its new-generation soft pack CTP (cell-to-pack) integrated battery at the GAF2024 New Energy Vehicle Intelligent Manufacturing Summit in Chongqing, according to a post on Ganfeng Lithium's WeChat account. The battery integrates multiple technological advancements in areas like range, safety, efficiency, and broad temperature range.

According to the company's introduction, the new-generation soft pack CTP integrated battery combines large capacity with high power, featuring high-quality lithium iron phosphate cells with an energy density of up to 190Wh/kg. It supports ultra-high discharge rates of over 10C, providing strong power output for new energy vehicles.

In terms of safety, the battery cells are designed to withstand multiple needle puncture tests without catching fire or emitting smoke. The battery adopts new composite materials to establish a quadruple insulation protection system for integrated heat dissipation and insulation. Its directional venting system enables rapid pressure relief and temperature reduction in seconds, ensuring battery safety even under extreme conditions such as needle puncture, high temperatures, and mechanical compression.

Regarding integration efficiency, the new-generation soft pack CTP integrated battery achieves a group efficiency of 74%. Through design optimization, module materials are reduced by 50%, and manufacturing efficiency is boosted by 30%. This battery achieves a lightweight design while offering flexibility for complete vehicle design. Additionally, its submarine-grade high-strength outer shell and detachable bottom protective armor are well-suited for off-road driving, camping, and other complex scenarios.

As for temperature control, the new battery is equipped with Ganfeng LiEnergy's latest direct cooling technology, ensuring rapid and efficient cooling. Combined with advanced BMS intelligent algorithms, the battery is fully compatible with both 500V and 800V high-voltage platforms. This shortens development and testing cycles while providing superior precision and stability.

In the battery sector, Ganfeng Lithium has developed high-energy-density batteries by combining solid-state battery technology. These batteries have an energy density of up to 420Wh/kg and a cycle life of more than 700 times. The company established a solid-state battery manufacturing facility in China in 2023.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
