Tesla's Shanghai Megafactory is set to complete construction by the end of 2024, just seven months after breaking ground in May, surpassing the build speed of its Gigafactory, according to reports from local media outlets.

BAIC BluePark secures 8.15 billion yuan in strategic investment

Ganfeng Lithium unveils new-generation soft pack CTP integrated battery

On December 19, Ganfeng LiEnergy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ganfeng Lithium Group Co., Ltd. (Ganfeng Lithium), one of the world's top producers of the commodity used in new energy vehicles, unveiled its new-generation soft pack CTP (cell-to-pack) integrated battery at the GAF2024 New Energy Vehicle Intelligent Manufacturing Summit in Chongqing, according to a post on Ganfeng Lithium's WeChat account. The battery integrates multiple technological advancements in areas like range, safety, efficiency, and broad temperature range.

BYD forays into Ethiopian market

On December 21, 2024, BYD made its official debut in the Ethiopian market via a brand launch event in Addis Ababa, in collaboration with local distributor MOENCO, a subsidiary of the Inchcape PLC, a London-based company specializing in global distribution & retail services for premium and luxury automotive sectors.

BMW Neue Klasse models' key tech co-developed by China, Munich teams

BMW will debut its new-generation ultra-sensory smart cockpit technologies at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), including the panoramic iDrive and the Neue Klasse X operating system. These innovations will first be introduced with the Neue Klasse SAV model in 2025 and are expected to reach Chinese consumers by 2026.

BYD's YANGWANG rolls out HD map-free urban NOA feature nationwide for YANGWANG U8

YANGWANG, BYD's high-end brand, recently rolled out significant OTA updates for its U8 Luxury Edition (V2.1.0) and U8 Off-road Player Edition (V2.1.1). The updates bring 19 new features and 16 optimizations to the Luxury Edition, and 18 new features with 17 enhancements to the Off-road Player Edition. Notably, the U8 Luxury Edition now supports nationwide urban navigation pilot function.

Xiaomi EV rolls out OTA update on Xiaomi SU7 model with VLM integration

On December 23, Xiaomi EV announced the release of the 1.4.5 OTA update for its SU7 model, introducing 13 new features and 26 enhancements. A key highlight is the integration of the Vision-Language Model (VLM), which significantly improves the vehicle's ability to interpret complex road environments and special traffic zones. 

JAC Group unveils new brand strategy in Chile

Recently, Chinese automaker JAC Group held a brand renewal event in Chile, introducing two new automatic transmission pickups, the T8 Pro AT and the T9 AT to the local market. This event marked a new chapter for JAC's development in the Chilean market.

On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
