Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 23, GAC Honda, the joint venture between GAC Group and Honda Motor, officially began operations at its new energy vehicle factory in the Guangzhou Development District, marking a new chapter in its journey toward electrification and intelligent manufacturing.

Designed with an annual production capacity of 120,000 vehicles, the factory integrates advanced technologies and sets a benchmark for smart and zero-carbon production.

The facility features a fully integrated digital intelligence system, connecting production, quality control, and logistics to ensure high efficiency and high standards in vehicle manufacturing. Smart equipment is deeply integrated into the four main workshops, enabling intelligent production of high-quality new energy vehicles.

The factory implements sustainable practices across all stages of production to achieve carbon neutrality. GAC Honda is committed to reducing carbon emissions throughout the product lifecycle, including raw material procurement, vehicle manufacturing, and usage phases, aiming to lead the automotive industry in carbon management.

Energy optimization is a cornerstone of the facility's operations. Equipped with a 22MW solar power system, it generates approximately 22 million kWh annually, reducing carbon emissions by 13,000 tonnes each year. The factory also employs an intelligent energy management system, leveraging AI models for precision energy monitoring and automated control of high-power equipment.

Aligned with Honda Motor's goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, GAC Honda plans to launch 10 battery electric vehicle (BEV) models in China by 2027, including the e:N series and the new "Ye" series. By 2035, the company aims for BEVs to account for 100% of its sales in the region.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
