Constellium is pleased to announce the successful completion of the "ISA3" R&D project. Since its inception, the project has been dedicated to innovations in lightweight automotive design. Jointly advanced by the Renault Group, ESI Group, Welding Institute, and the University of Lorraine, the project received strong support from France's Energy Investment Plan, setting an example for the development of lightweight, cost-effective, and recyclable aluminum automotive components.
By adopting a single alloy series, the design not only simplified the closed-loop recycling process for car doors but also effectively reduced the carbon footprint. The new door solution lowered the Global Warming Potential (GWP) by 33%, highlighting the project's focus on sustainable innovation. Additionally, the project team developed more efficient and flexible production processes, enhancing product performance while optimizing costs.
