Shanghai (Gasgoo)- As of December 13, BYD's Xi'an factory has achieved the annual production target of 1 million vehicles, marking the first time the facility to cross this output volume in a single year, according to a post on "Xi'an High-tech", the official WeChat account operated by the local authority.

Located in Xi'an Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone (Xi'an Hi-Tech Zone), BYD's Xi'an factory is the company's largest single car manufacturing factory nationwide. BYD has established a comprehensive presence in the zone, spanning sectors like new energy vehicles (NEVs), automotive parts, consumer electronics, rail transit, power batteries, and automotive finance. This integrated ecosystem encompasses R&D, production, sales, and aftermarket services.

Currently, BYD's Xi'an factory operates four assembly lines simultaneously, producing 4,000 to 4,400 vehicles per day, providing strong support for achieving an annual output exceeding one million units.

Xi'an High-Tech Zone has been deeply cultivating the NEV industry, accelerating the development of NEV manufacturing and supporting industries. The region has established a complete industrial chain, covering vehicle testing, charging and battery-swapping facilities, automotive finance, lithium battery recycling, vehicle maintenance services, and vehicle production.

By capitalizing on BYD's vehicle manufacturing project, the Xi'an High-Tech Zone has enhanced its industrial chain through targeted investment. In the power battery sector, it has attracted industry leaders such as Samsung SDI-ARN (Xi'an) Power Battery and Xi'an FinDreams Battery. In automotive parts area, it has absorbed global giants like United Automotive Electronic Systems, Faurecia, Yanfeng, and Aden Group.

Data shows that from 2018 to 2023, Xi'an High-Tech Zone has seen its automotive industry achieve an average annual growth rate of 33.43%. The sector now hosts around 87 enterprises within its supply chain. Notably, its NEV industry has demonstrated particularly rapid development.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
