Geely, PROTON co-developed e.MAS 7 BEV model hits market

On December 16, Malaysian automaker PROTON officially put its first all-electric vehicle model, the e.MAS 7, onto the market, marking Malaysia's entry into the electric vehicle era.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 16, Malaysian automaker PROTON officially put its first all-electric vehicle model, the e.MAS 7, onto the market, marking Malaysia's entry into the electric vehicle era.

The e.MAS 7 is a result of PROTON's deepened collaboration with Geely. The e.MAS 7 is offered in two variants—Base and Premium—priced at MYR 109,800 and MYR 123,800, respectively.

Built on the same platform as Geely's Galaxy E5 SUV, the e.MAS 7 delivers a WLTP-rated range of 345km and 410km for its two variants. It features a CTB (Cell-to-Body) integrated battery design, incorporating short-blade batteries with an energy density of 192Wh/kg, capable of enduring up to 3,500 charge cycles.

Geely and PROTON have achieved comprehensive integration across technology, manufacturing, and supply chains over the past seven years. Geely reiterated its commitment to supporting the AHTV (Automotive High-Tech Valley) project, driving Malaysia's new energy vehicle industry transformation, and positioning the region as a hub for new energy vehicle and advanced technology development.

On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
