Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 16, Huawei's smart car alliance HIMA officially announced that the LUXEED R7 model's range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) edition is set to hit the market on December 19. The new vehicle boasts a combined range of 1,570km under CLTC conditions.
Previously, LUXEED R7's REEV version was disclosed in a catalogue by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
According to MIIT's information, the REEV edition retains the same dimensions and wheelbase of the existing battery electric vehicle (BEV) version. The REEV edition is equipped with a 115 kW engine, the same 1.5T engine used in multiple Chery's Fulwin models.
Additionally, the vehicle is powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack provided by Sichuan Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL-SC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL.
Since its market launch on September 24, the LUXEED R7's BEV model is available in four trim levels, which are priced between 259,800 yuan and 339,800 yuan. The model recorded a fixed order volume surpassing 6,000 units and 20,000 units within 24 hours and 14 days, respectively.
The cumulative deliveries of the LUXEED R7 exceeded 20,000 units within 57 days upon market launch, the automaker announced on December 14.
In terms of design, the LUXEED R7 features distinctive teardrop-style headlights with three internal lenses, complemented by air ducts, giving it a sporty look. In addition, the model adopts a closed-off front grille design, leaving only a lower cooling vent open, while a 192-line LiDAR sits atop the vehicle.
Regarding the size, the vehicle measures 4,956 mm in length, 1,981 mm in width, and 1,634 mm in height, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase.
Inside, the LUXEED R7 adopts a signature yacht-inspired wraparound cockpit with a 12.3-inch remote screen. The vehicle boasts headroom and legroom space of up to 1 meter at the rear seats. The model also introduces a "Knock-Knock" electric suction front trunk with 52L capacity, enabling easy access with a double tap.
Built on the Tuling (named in Chinese pinyin) chassis system, the LUXEED R7 is powered by Huawei's electric motor system, and comes standard with CDC (Continuous Damping Control) system and air suspension across the entire lineup.
As for intelligent driving, the LUXEED R7 is equipped with Huawei's ADS 3.0, an advanced intelligent driving system with an end-to-end architecture. Its parking system can identify obstacles in occupied spaces, allowing the car autonomously parks itself after users remove them. Notably, the model eliminates Bluetooth range limitations, enabling users to exit the vehicle at their destination while it parks independently.
In terms of powertrain, all trims of the LUXEED R7 are based on Huawei's "Giant Whale" 800V high-voltage battery platform, delivering a maximum range of 802 km.
