Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 12, 2024, Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer Li Auto celebrated the successful rollout of its first high-strength high-tenacity stainless steel coil at Tsingtuo Group's factory. The milestone was marked by a joint unveiling ceremony with Tsingtuo Group, Anhui NEV Power Systems Co., Ltd., and Hongwang Holding Group for the newly developed UFHS stainless steel material.

According to Li Auto, the proprietary stainless steel offers a 46% improvement in strength compared to traditional stainless steel and significantly enhances stress corrosion resistance. The material is used in the high-pressure stainless steel fuel tanks for the entire Li Auto L series lineup, significantly improving safety under extreme conditions. This development signifies Li Auto's capability in proprietary material formulation and component design for high-strength stainless steel applications.

Tsingtuo Group is a leading global stainless steel and nickel producer based in Fujian province. Anhui NEV Power Systems, a Chinese local enterprise supported by Li Auto, specializes in the R&D, production, and sales of fuel modules for automotive power systems. This tripartite partnership is set to accelerate technological advancements in high-pressure stainless steel fuel tanks and other critical components, enabling Li Auto to meet the evolving demands of its NEV users. Through this collaboration, Li Auto aims to strengthen its technical capabilities and deliver safer, more innovative solutions to its customers.

On the same day, Li Auto and Tsingtuo Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement to establish a joint innovation platform. Leveraging their respective technological and resource strengths, the partnership aims to create cutting-edge stainless steel solutions for the NEV industry through the envisioned joint innovation center.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
