Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Recently, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has unveiled the facelifts of the XPENG G6 and G9 models in a catalogue. The latest updates to the XPENG G6 and G9 encompass advancements in technology and design. Notably, both models are poised to eliminate LiDAR and adopt a pure vision solution.

New XPENG G6:

As for the exterior, the XPENG G6 facelift features a continuous light strip on the front, a repositioned logo, and a ducktail-like spoiler at the rear, giving the vehicle a sporty look.

The model measures 4,758mm long, 1,920mm wide, and 1,650mm tall, with a wheelbase that spans 2,890mm.

The new G6 features a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack supplied by CALB, eliminating original ternary lithium battery packs. This move aims to lower production costs. The model is still powered by a rear-mounted electric motor, delivering a maximum output of 218 kW.

New XPENG G9:

The updated G9 also receives a refreshed exterior, involving new wheel design as well as the addition of a "Black Knight" edition and dual-tone body color options.Like the new G6, the new G9 also adopts a CALB-manufactured LFP battery pack across its range.

As for powertrain, the new G9 is available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, with the latter delivering a combined output of 423 kW.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
