Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 9, information of the DEEPAL S09, a new large SUV from Changan Automobile's DEEPAL brand, was released in the latest batch of regulatory filings from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The vehicle showcases the brand's latest design language and will feature a six-seat layout, along with advanced intelligent driving capabilities, including the integration of LiDAR sensors. The S09 is slated for market release in the first half of 2025.

The exterior of the DEEPAL S09 follows the brand's "Symbiotic Aesthetics" design philosophy. The front end features a shark-nose design, creating a dynamic appearance. The fog light and lower grille areas are heavily blacked-out, enhancing the vehicle's width. One of the most striking features is the LED light bar that stretches across the front, seamlessly blending into the vehicle's body.

In terms of dimensions, the S09 measures 5,205mm in length, 1,996mm in width, and 1,800mm in height, with a 3,105mm wheelbase.

Powering the S09 is DEEPAL's Super Range Extending system, combining a 1.5T range extender with a high-performance electric motor. The vehicle offers both single- and dual-motor configurations, with power outputs ranging from 231 kW for the single motor to 362 kW for the dual-motor version.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
