As 2024 approaches its end, car manufacturers are ramping up their sales efforts, leading to a wave of new car launches in December. According to incomplete statistics from Gasgoo, 10 major new models will hit the market in December, covering both new energy vehicles (NEVs) and traditional oil-fueled vehicles. Among these, much-anticipated models include the NIO ET9, Lynk & Co Z20, Geely Starship 7 EM-i, and Hongqi Tian Gong 08. This article provides a rundown of the new cars to be launched in December.

Launched Models

AVATR 11 Range Extended Electric Version

-Launch Date: December 2

-Price: 279,900 yuan to 429,900 yuan

The AVATR 11 introduced its range extended electric version (REEV) alongside a facelift for the existing battery-electric version (BEV). The new model offers five variants with two powertrain options.

The exterior design is almost identical to the AVATR 11 BEV variant, with the addition of a front grille. The vehicle measures 4,895mm in length, 1,970mm in width, and 1,601mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,975mm and a 5-seat layout.

The AVATR 11 REEV edition features AVATR's self-developed Kunlun range extension technology. It is equipped with CATL's supercharging battery, providing a CLTC-rated combined range of 1,065 km. Charging from 30% to 80% of its battery capacity takes just 15 minutes, and the WLTC fuel consumption in power-deplete mode is as low as 6.2 liters/100 km.

Lynk & Co Z10 4WD Halo Edition

- Launch Date: December 2  

- Price: Starting at 229,800 yuan

The Lynk & Co Z10 95kWh 702km 4WD Halo edition has officially hit the market, bridging the gap between the existing rear-wheel-drive Smart Max and four-wheel-drive Smart Ultra versions.

The exterior features a Y- shaped daytime running light and a large black grille, adding to its sporty appeal.

Powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system based on an 800V platform, the Z10 Halo edition has a 95kWh battery and offers a range of 702 km. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, with a peak power output of 580 kW, and features 21-inch wheels with four-piston calipers.

Second-generation Haval H9 Diesel Edition

-Launch Date: December 5  

-Price: 239,900 yuan to 247,900 yuan

The second-generation Haval H9's diesel version comes with two variants. It adopts a boxy design with a prominent front grille and square headlights with round inserts.

It is powered by a 2.4T diesel engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, delivering up to 135 kW of net power and 480 Nm of peak torque.

Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i

-Launch Date: December 6  

-Price: 103,800 yuan to 136,800 yuan

The Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i's exterior showcases a sleek, tech-focused aesthetic. The front features a closed-off grille and a striking, star-ringed LED light strip that spans the vehicle's width, creating a highly recognizable look. Vent-inspired designs on either side of the front bumper form an "X" shape with the grille, enhancing its bold appearance. Muscular lines along the hood add to the SUV's aggressive stance.

As a compact SUV, the Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i measures 4,740mm in length, 1,905mm in width, and 1,685mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,755mm, slightly longer than the L7 but with a marginally shorter wheelbase.

The Starship 7 EM-i is powered by Geely's latest NordThor EM-i super hybrid system, delivering a combined range of 1,420km.

Upcoming Models

Chery Fulwin A8L C-DM  

-Launch Date: December 17  

-Price: Expected to start around 239,800 yuan

The Chery Fulwin A8L C-DM, a new energy vehicle model under Chery's Fulwin range, will officially hit the market on December 17. It features Chery's Lion 5.0 smart cockpit, including a 15.6-inch center display powered by the Qualcomm 8155 chipset.

The new model is upgraded with a new octagonal front face, with optional black trimmings between the front grille and fog lights.

The A8L C-DM is powered by a 1.5T engine combined with a C-DM plug-in hybrid system, delivering a maximum power of 115 kW. The battery is provided by Gotion Hi-Tech.

Chery iCAR V23  

-Launch Date: Expected mid-December  

-Pre-sale Price: 110,000 to 150,000 yuan

The iCAR V23 is the second mass-produced model under Chery's young new energy vehicle brand iCAR, and its pre-sale price is already released. The first V23 previously rolled off the production line on December 2.

The rugged all-electric SUV features a boxy design and high stance. The vehicle offers both single-motor and dual-motor options, with a maximum power of 100 kW for the single-motor version and 155 kW for the dual-motor version.

The single-motor variant has a range of 401 km, while the dual-motor model reaches 501 km under the CLTC standard.

Hongqi Tian Gong 08  

-Launch Date: Expected mid-December  

-Pre-sale Price: Starting at 239,800 yuan

The Hongqi Tian Gong 08, based on Hongqi's latest Tian Gong electric vehicle platform and the Jiu Zhang intelligent platform, is a large luxury SUV. The model kicked off pre-sale at the Auto Guangzhou 2024, with official market release expected in mid-December.

As the first model riding on the Tian Gong platform, the Tian Gong 08 features a closed front face and striking split-type headlights.

Depending on the configuration, the Tian Gong 08 features 75 kWh, 85 kWh, or 111 kWh battery pack options, providing a range of up to 520 km. The vehicle also offers air suspension, CDC dampers, and rear-wheel steering.

NIO ET9  

-Launch Date: December 21  

-Pre-sale Price: 800,000 yuan

The NIO ET9 will officially hit the market on December 21. The luxury electric sedan has already entered the pre-sale phase with a price of 800,000 yuan. Deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025.

Positioned as a flagship model embodying NIO's advanced technology, the ET9 features a comprehensive 900V high-voltage platform, the Sky Ride smart chassis system, SkyOS all-domain operating system, steer-by-wire technology, rear-wheel steering, and a fully active suspension system.

Notably, the ET9 introduces dual wide-angle LiDAR sensors integrated into the side metal fenders and debuts 4D millimeter-wave imaging radar.

Under the hood, the NIO ET9 is powered by a silicon carbide-based high-performance electric four-wheel drive system. The front asynchronous induction motor generates a maximum output of 180 kW, while the rear permanent magnet synchronous motor delivers 340 kW, achieving a peak torque of 5,000 Nm and a top speed of over 20,000 rpm.

Lynk & Co Z20

-Launch Date: December 22

-Pre-orders price: Starting at 146,000 yuan

Lynk & Co's first fully electric SUV, the Lynk & Co Z20, has officially opened for pre-orders with a starting price of 146,000 yuan. The model is said to hit the market on December 22.

The Z20 is built on Geely's SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, positioning it as a compact electric SUV. Its design follows Lynk & Co's signature "THE NEXT DAY" design language, featuring a closed front grille with sharp lines and distinctive "h"-shaped LED daytime running lights, which enhance its visual identity and road presence.

In terms of performance, the Z20 boasts a front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension system, optimized for electric vehicle dynamics. The pre-sale model delivers a combined motor output of 250 kW, a peak torque of 373 Nm, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.

JETOUR Freelancer

-Launch Date: Expected in December  

-Price: Not yet disclosed

JETOUR's new rugged SUV, the Freelancer (name translated from "Ziyouzhe" in Chinese), is set to go on sale in December following its global premiere at this year's Auto Guangzhou, where it also opened for intention pre-orders.

The Freelancer adopts the design language of the JETOUR T1, featuring a classic boxy silhouette that exudes toughness and off-road appeal. With a body length exceeding 4.7 meters, the SUV commands a strong road presence. Inside, the vehicle offers a modern tech-forward cabin, equipped with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch floating central control screen. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset and supports L2+ advanced driver assistance systems.

Under the hood, the Freelancer provides two powertrain options: a 1.5T and a 2.0T engine, both paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the model comes with towing certification, catering to outdoor enthusiasts and camping aficionados looking for greater versatility.
