Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The BYD Seal 05 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sedan from BYD Auto, has been included in a catalogue recently issued by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

In terms of exterior design, the Seal 05 DM-i follows the latest family styling of BYD's Ocean Series, with headlights resembling those of the Seal 06 DM-i. The front end adopts a sleek, downward-sloping stance, adding a sporty touch.

On the side, the model is understated and streamlined, with a continuous waistline that enhances the vehicle's sleek and elongated look. At the rear, it features a full-width light strip design, creating a robust and solid presence.

As for dimensions, the Seal 05 DM-i measures 4,780mm in length, 1,837mm in width, and 1,515mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718mm. The vehicle is 20mm taller than the BYD Destroyer 05.

The Seal 05 DM-i is equipped with a range of advanced features, including a three-eye camera mounted on the front windshield, side rear-facing cameras on the front fenders, and exterior rear mirror cameras. It is expected to offer a higher level of intelligent driving capabilities compared to the BYD Destroyer 05 model.

Under the hood, the Seal 05 DM-i is powered by BYD's fifth-generation DM (Dual Mode) system, which is composed of a 1.5L engine capable of a maximum output of 74kW, and an electric motor offering a peak power of 120kW.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
