Coupled with the substantial profit margins of alumina, some alumina refineries have increased their willingness to accept higher-priced bauxite, causing imported bauxite prices to rise again. As of December 5, the SMM imported bauxite CIF index was reported at $93.30/mt, and the price of Guinean bauxite was reported at $95/mt, an increase of $4/mt compared to last Thursday. In the short term, the tight supply fundamentals of bauxite may not see significant improvement, and bauxite prices are expected to fluctuate upward.
