On December 3, Great Wall Motor's TANK brand officially opened pre-sales for the TANK 500 Hi4-Z, an addition to the TANK 500 model, priced at 379,800 yuan.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 3, Great Wall Motor's TANK brand officially opened pre-sales for the TANK 500 Hi4-Z, an addition to the TANK 500 model, priced at 379,800 yuan.

The TANK 500 Hi4-Z shares the same interior and powertrain as the existing model, but sports a new red-and-white gradient paint finish, dubbed "Yi Ding Hong" (in Chinese Pin Yin, a poetic nod to the car's vibrant color and its anticipated success in the market), giving it a more striking appearance.

The new model is powered by the advanced Hi4-Z hybrid architecture, making it ideal for various off-road scenarios. This architecture offers extended range, fast charging, powerful performance, and high-efficiency thanks to its high-performance PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle)-dedicated engine, dual high-power electric motors, and large-capacity battery.

Equipped with a 59.05kWh battery, the TANK 500 Hi4-Z offers a battery-powered range of over 200 kilometers under the WLTC cycle. Adopting an 800V architecture, it can be charged at a maximum power of 163kW, allowing for a 120-kilometer range in just 15 minutes of fast charging.

By adopting a "three-speed DHT + dual-motor" distributed layout, it solves the problem of inadequate wheel-end torque under heavy loads when using power splitting. As a PHEV to employ power splitting, the model realizes natural energy distribution, leading to improved overall efficiency.

According to GWM, the company holds a 65% market share in China's off-road SUV market. Sales data shows that TANK sold 209,000 vehicles in the first 11 months of this year, marking a 44% year-on-year leap. Among these, the TANK 300, the brand's main sales contributor, logged a sales volume of around 90,000 units.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
