Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 2, 2024, TAILG Technology Group ("TAILG") and Shenzhen BYD Lithium Battery Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of BYD Company Limited, officially announced a strategic partnership in the field of batteries for two- and three-wheel electric vehicles (EVs) at a signing ceremony in Wuxi city, according to a post on FinDreams Battery's WeChat account.

This collaboration signifies not only mutual benefits in technology innovation, market expansion, and brand development, but also heralds an unprecedented transformation in the two- and three-wheel EV battery market, said the two companies.

TAILG, a leading player in the two-wheel EV industry and the exclusive partner of the United Nations for electric mobility, plays a pivotal role in shaping industry standards and promoting the regulated development of two- and three-wheel EVs. Meanwhile, BYD, with nearly three decades of expertise in battery technology, leverages its full-stack capabilities in independent battery research, design, and production to provide efficient, safe, and reliable energy solutions globally.

The partnership seeks to address emerging challenges in the two- and three-wheel EV battery sector. BYD's advancements in three core areas—cell technology, battery management systems (BMS), and battery structure designs—along with rigorous extreme testing, is expected to enhance battery performance and lifespan.

Beyond hardware upgrades, the two companies have co-developed the "Vehicle-Battery-Cloud Safety System," a cloud-based big data platform. By collecting and analyzing real-time battery data, this system can identify and preempt potential safety risks, providing users with enhanced travel safety and peace of mind. This innovation underscores the partners' commitment to both technological advancement and user safety.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
