Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Recently, Contemporary Amperex Energy Service Technology Ltd. (CAES), CATL's wholly-owned subsidiary, signed a cooperation agreement with Uxin, a leading e-commerce platform for buying and selling used cars in China, to explore new business and service models in the battery swapping sector, according to a post in CATL's WeChat account.

The collaboration aims to expand the battery-swapping market and ecosystem, and deliver comprehensive battery solutions. This initiative offers consumers seamless options, including battery renting, purchasing, repurchasing, swapping, charging, and upgrading, ensuring worry-free service throughout the battery lifecycle.

With the penetration of new energy vehicles reaching new highs in China, the used car market is heating up. Consumers are increasingly concerned about the resale value, battery health, and lifespan of pure electric used cars. Meanwhile, the lack of unified standards for inspection, evaluation, and after-sales warranties has become a key factor hindering the further development and growth of the used new energy vehicle market.

Leveraging its expertise in standardized modular battery swapping technology, namely, Choco-SEB (swapping electric block), CAES will integrate Uxin's extensive experience and mature service ecosystem in the used car market to develop a used car trading system where cars and batteries can be traded separately.

Both parties plan to jointly develop an online trading platform for car-battery separation transactions and an integrated battery marketplace to promote the construction of battery swapping networks and advance battery swapping standardization. They aim to provide consumers with  used car condition inspection, certification, rating services, and so on.

CATL said this cooperation marks an important milestone in the developemnt of its Choco-SEB ecosystem, enabling a full lifecycle transaction chain for battery swapping. It represents an all-encompassing upgrade, from technological and service innovation to business model transformation. This system addresses challenges in the evaluation and pricing of used NEVs, and strengthens trust among all parties, creating a more transparent and secure transaction environment for consumers. Additionally, it enhances the coverage of battery swapping networks, offering a more convenient and efficient refueling experience, and sets a new standard for business model innovation and value creation in the used NEV market.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
