Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Global leading automotive supplier ZF recently opened its third e-mobility plant in China, known as ZF Electric Mobility Systems (Shenyang) Co., Ltd., according to a post on ZF's WeChat account. The new Shenyang plant will focus on producing and selling advanced three-in-one electric drive axles for new energy vehicles (NEVs).
The plant's main product is the NEV-used electric drive system, with core components built on ZF's modular electric drive platform. This includes front and rear axle assemblies, integrating the motor, controller, and reducer. The modular design supports power outputs ranging from 100kW to 300kW and allows flexible switching between synchronous and asynchronous motors based on customer requirements.
Key innovations of the plant include hairpin winding technology for the electric motor, enhancing power and torque density while ensuring optimized efficiency and output characteristics. The controller is equipped with ZF's advanced High 2.0 SiC technology, supporting the 800V platform to significantly improve safety and cost efficiency. The reducer design has been meticulously refined to achieve optimal efficiency and exceptional NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) performance.
The Shenyang plant's opening marks a significant step forward in ZF's e-mobility strategy, enabling the company to deliver high-quality, efficient electric drive solutions to customers in China and worldwide. Currently, production line and equipment transfers are underway, with the plant focusing on fine-tuning assembly and testing lines for electric drive system components to ensure mass production begins smoothly in 2025.
With the addition of the Shenyang facility, ZF now operates three e-mobility plants in China. In September 2022, the second phase of ZF Electrified Powertrain Technologies (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. was put into operation, specializing in 800V electric drive axles and reducers. Around the same time, ZF Electric Mobility Technologies (Shenyang) Co., Ltd. completed its new energy vehicle electric drive project, producing and testing electric motors, power electronics and electric drive system.
