Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC AION, a Chinese leading new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer under GAC Group, introduced its first global strategic model, the AION V, onto the Thai market at the 41st Thailand International Motor Expo kicking off on November 28th, marking the first overseas launch of the model.
At the expo, GAC AION showcased four flagship models from its AION and HYPTEC brands. The AION V made its overseas debut, drawing attention with its cyberpunk design, flagship-level luxury experience, long range, fast charging capability, and the ADiGO SPACE intelligent cockpit. The AION Y Plus, which was unveiled with an upgraded version at last year's Thailand International Motor Expo, quickly became one of the best-selling model in its coresponding segment in Thailand. The HYPTEC HT and the HYPTEC SSR, two all-electric vehicles renowned for their high-performance and premium amenities, are revolutionizing the automotive landscape in Thailand by offering consumers an unparalleled level of technology, luxury, and refinement.
At the expo, GAC AION not only showcased its robust product lineup but also highlighted its latest achievements in the global market expansion. On July 17th, the company marked a significant milestone in its localization strategy with the completion of its smart factory in Thailand. The automaker said it will continue to deepen cooperation with local suppliers to further enhance the localization degree.
As for sales channels, GAC AION has already established 57 dealerships, with plans to grow to 60 and 80 outlets by the end of 2024 and 2025, respectively. Regarding energy facilities, the company aims to establish 25 charging stations this year, and plans to build a network of 200 charging stations with 1,000 supercharging piles across 100 cities in Thailand by 2027 to ensure hassle-free charging for local customers.
In terms of talent cultivation, GAC AION, in collaboration with RMUTI (Rajamangala University of Technology Isan), CHELOVE International Education Group, and Tencent Cloud, officially opened Thailand's first international electric vehicle talent development base, which aims to cultivate talents for Thailand’s cutting-edge NEV industry, and support the transformation and upgrading of local automotive sector.
