Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On November 21, China's main power battery supplier Gotion High-tech signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tsinghua University in Beijing to collaborate on R&D in critical technologies and materials for next-generation power batteries.
Under the MoU, the two parties will leverage their respective strengths to advance cross-disciplinary strategic cooperation and innovation. Key areas of focus include next-generation power battery technologies, essential battery materials, safety performance, and manufacturing processes. The partnership also aims to transform research outcomes into practical applications. Future collaboration will emphasize breakthroughs in cutting-edge technologies, innovations in testing methods, smart digital R&D, and industrial applications, fostering resource sharing and coordinated innovation.
Mr. Ouyang Minggao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy director of Tsinghua University's Academic Committee, highlighted the strategic significance of developing and commercializing next-generation battery technologies such as all-solid-state batteries. He noted that as trends in vehicle electrification persist, coupled with advancements in autonomous driving and vehicle-to-grid interaction, electric vehicles will evolve into multifunctional storage devices. Mr. Ouyang expressed optimism about achieving significant results through this industry-academia collaboration with Gotion High-tech.
Mr. Li Zhen, Chairman of Gotion High-tech, emphasized that the collaboration with Tsinghua University not only enables the company to sustain innovation in basic research, cutting-edge technology, and strategic thinking but also contributes to talent cultivation. Mr. Li expressed his desire to deepen cooperation with Ouyang’s team, aiming to overcome technological challenges and drive advancements in the battery industry.
