The Hydro Alumetal recycling plant in Kety, Poland, will increase the use of renewable energy to produce low-carbon, recyclable aluminum products, supporting Europe's green transition. To achieve this goal, Hydro will install solar panels at the plant, which are expected to generate 1,000 megawatt hours of electricity annually and is expected to be operational in Q2 2025.
The total investment for this project is 870,000 euros, aiming to convert part of the plant's energy supply to locally produced renewable energy. Additionally, this investment will modernize the plant's safety systems and energy monitoring systems.
The electricity produced by renewable solar energy will meet 15% of the plant's annual electricity demand. Furthermore, when the plant does not fully consume the generated electricity, the surplus will be fed into the local power grid, providing clean energy to surrounding households, businesses, and other facilities.
