Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In recent days, industry insiders reported that Great Wall Motor (GWM) and Huawei are in discussions to collaborate on R&D of advanced intelligent driving systems. It was suggested that key models under GWM's TANK brand might feature Huawei's advanced driving and smart cockpit solutions.
However, on the evening of November 21, GWM's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Ms. Wu Huixiao took to social media to clarify that no such cooperation has been established between the two companies. She emphasized that GWM has always pursued its own technological development in intelligent driving and aims to keep core technologies in-house.
GWM has made significant strides in the field of intelligent technologies, notably through the establishment of its subsidiary, HAOMO.AI. According to Chinese business information inquiryplatform Tianyancha, Mr. Wei Jianjun, Chairman of GWM, is the ultimate beneficiary of HAOMO.AI, holding a 37.2% stake in the company.
Besides, several of GWM's key brands already feature the company's self-developed Coffee intelligent cockpit system.
In the area of intelligent driving, GWM has launched its Coffee Pilot Ultra system, which has been mass-produced and installed in vehicles. This system is based on a data intelligence framework and an end-to-end driving model, SEE, capable of covering all scenarios—from urban streets to rural roads, and from main highways to narrow alleys—without the need for HD map data.
At the Auto Guangzhou 2024 in November, GWM also announced an upgrade to the Coffee OS, bringing it to version 3.1, which enables nationwide city-level deployment of its NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) system. Wu Huixiao explained that the Coffee OS 3.1 focuses on enhancing trust between the driver and the vehicle, creating a child-friendly experience, and improving interactive flexibility, resulting in a multi-dimensional advancement of the system.
In addition to intelligent driving, GWM has also collaborated with Huawei in the health and safety sector. Based on the Coffee OS 3.1, the companies have jointly developed a product called "Digital Health," integrating Huawei's health tracking and smart vehicle technologies to offer safer and more health-conscious mobility solutions.
