Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 14, local time, Chancay Port in Peru officially commenced operations, marking the start of commercial deployment for 40 fully electric intelligent trucks developed by Chinese autonomous trucking solution developer UTOPILOT. This is China's first large-scale rollout of smart port transport vehicles overseas.

Chancay Port, a deep-water harbor and the first green smart port in South America, is an investment by China COSCO Shipping. The port features advanced automation equipment and communication technologies. The deployment of the electric autonomous trucks alone is expected to reduce related energy consumption by over 25%.

UTOPILOT's intelligent trucks are equipped with cutting-edge smart driving systems, achieving top-tier capabilities in perception, planning, control, and positioning for port operations. Refined through real-world testing in several Chinese ports, their advanced perception algorithms use proprietary deep learning models to recognize dynamic and static objects in complex traffic scenarios.

A tailored human-like planning and control system further enables these trucks to predict and avoid collisions with operational equipment such as quay cranes and gantry cranes. They also feature autonomous lane-changing capabilities, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and road conditions to navigate multiple scenarios seamlessly within the port.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
