Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 19, Magna announced it has received the first order for the DHD Duo dedicated hybrid drive system from a major Chinese automaker. This milestone highlights Magna's commitment to innovation and sustainability, offering versatile and efficient powertrain solutions to support global electrification strategies.

The DHD Duo system is a longitudinal front-wheel-drive solution featuring a dual-motor, multi-speed design and an 800V high-voltage system. This advanced configuration ensures a smooth and refined driving experience.

Addressing integration challenges for longitudinal hybrid systems in passenger and commercial vehicles, the DHD Duo incorporates a compact, highly integrated dog clutch system. This design enables broad adaptability across vehicle platforms without requiring structural modifications, offering exceptional flexibility for automakers.

Part of Magna's DHD Duo product lineup, the longitudinal front-wheel-drive system features a scalable architecture that supports a range of vehicle segments from B to E, including SUVs, pickup trucks, and light commercial vehicles. It accommodates various hybrid configurations such as P1+P3, P2+P3, and range-extended modes, while supporting pure electric, series, and parallel driving.

Production of the DHD Duo system is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025 at Magna's Nanchang facility.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
