NIO announced a strategic partnership with Green Car, marking its upcoming entry into the Azerbaijani market.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- At the COP29 (the 29th Conference of the Parties) summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, NIO announced a strategic partnership with Green Car, marking its upcoming entry into the Azerbaijani market. The agreement, signed on November 15, paves the way for NIO to offer its smart electric vehicle products and services in the region, expanding its footprint in the Caucasus.

Under the terms of the partnership, Green Car will serve as NIO's exclusive national-level distributor in Azerbaijan, operating under a direct sales model. Following NIO's comprehensive standards, Green Car will oversee local operations, including sales, services, and community engagement. The company will also invest in establishing NIO's charging and battery swap stations, service centers, and NIO Houses across the country. To ensure a consistent global user experience, NIO will develop and authorize the use of digital platforms, including a localized website and mobile applications.

NIO plans to commence product deliveries in Azerbaijan by the second quarter of 2025, providing the full suite of its services to users in the Caucasus region.

Founded in 2014, Green Car is a pioneering company in Azerbaijan's green mobility sector, specializing in promoting electric vehicles and sustainable transportation solutions. The company has been instrumental in advancing the development of new energy infrastructure and transforming local travel practices towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Since its inception, NIO has pursued a global R&D and market expansion strategy. The company entered the European market in 2021, initiating its international rollout. As of November 15, 2024, NIO's six production models—including the EL8 (named ES8 in China), ET7, EL7 (named ES7 in China), ET5, ET5T, and EL6 (named ES6 in China)—are available in five European countries: Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. Besides, the company has established 58 battery swap stations and integrated over 600,000 third-party charging points in Europe, along with eight NIO Houses, ten NIO Spaces, and 65 service centers.

In October 2024, NIO announced its official entry into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) market, with plans to fully launch its operations in the UAE by the end of the fourth quarter this year.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
