Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese smart electric vehicle maker XPENG recently entered into a partnership with International Motors Ltd. (IML), a renowned automotive dealer group in Europe, according to a post on XPENG's WeChat account. The agreement designates IML as XPENG's official distributor in the UK, a market long considered a crucial gateway for Chinese automakers entering Europe.

IML, a respected name in the European automotive industry, has a strong presence in the UK, Ireland, and the Nordic markets. With a history spanning 50 years, the group offers a comprehensive operational framework, covering everything from vehicle imports to after-sales services. IML has built strong alliances with numerous automakers across various regions.

The first model XPENG plans to introduce in the UK is the G6 all-electric SUV. The vehicle is expected to hit the local market in early 2025.

XPENG's Head of International Business commented, "Our collaboration with IML marks a significant step in our global expansion strategy. We are excited to bring a new standard of intelligent electric mobility to the UK market, combining innovative technology with outstanding design. Our goal is to transform the driving experience for UK consumers, making it safer, smarter, more sustainable, and more enjoyable."

William Brown, President of IML, added, "We are thrilled to partner with XPENG as their official distributor. In fact, our collaboration has been underway for some time. Earlier this year, the G6 made its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, showcasing our strong partnership. We are both eagerly anticipating the official UK launch of the highly anticipated G6 in early 2025."

Since its initial entry into Norway at the end of 2020, XPENG has expanded its presence across several European markets, including Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Iceland, Spain, and Portugal.

In August this year, coinciding with its 10th anniversary, XPENG announced its strategic vision to become a global AI-driven automotive company. By 2025, the company aims to operate in over 60 markets worldwide, with a goal of generating half of its sales from overseas markets.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
