GLE Boasts Mature Nickel Sulfate Production Capacity, Plans Integrated Lithium Battery Material Production for European and American Markets

Published: Nov 15, 2024 13:42
[GLE: Boasts Mature Nickel Sulfate Production Capacity and Will Advance Integrated Production of Lithium Battery Materials in the Future] GLE recently stated on an investor interaction platform that the company possesses mature and comprehensive nickel sulfate production capacity totaling 75,000 metric tons per annum (MTA) domestically. Additionally, the company is establishing a 25,000 MTA nickel sulfate production capacity in Indonesia to support 50,000 tons of ternary precursors, which is expected to be completed within the year. By then, the company's total nickel sulfate production capacity will reach 100,000 MTA. Looking ahead, GLE will leverage its Indonesian production base to advance the integrated production of lithium battery materials, targeting the European and American markets. In Indonesia, the company aims to establish a world-class full industrial chain for nickel resources and new energy materials, from low-grade laterite nickel ore to battery raw materials and battery materials, effectively addressing the FEOC details under the IRA Act, breaking through the IRA Act blockade, and building the company's competitiveness in emerging overseas new energy markets.

[SMM Energy Storage Battery Cell Market Weekly Review 9.3] Tight copper foil supply constrains September production schedules, energy storage battery cell prices remain firm
[SMM Analysis] Affected by tight copper foil supply and slower-than-expected capacity ramp-up for large-capacity battery cells, China and global energy storage battery cell production growth in September is expected to slow to 4.09% and 4.25% MoM, respectively, but this does not indicate weakening end-use demand. Supply-demand conditions for energy storage battery cells remain tight, with 314Ah battery cell prices holding steady. Shipments are expected to rise steadily going forward, with prices continuing their stable-to-higher trend.

CATL Chairman: China's NEV Sales Surpass 7.4M in H1, Emphasizes Precision in Battery Production
CATL Chairman Zeng Yuqun, in a video address to the 2026 World Power Battery Conference, said that in H1 this year, China's NEV sales exceeded 7.4 million units, with over 600 new models launched, averaging nearly three per day. Everyone is competing on speed, specifications, and price, and development cycles are getting shorter. He noted that power batteries require extremely high precision and have very low tolerance for error. In mass production, all small issues are magnified many times over, so every process and every parameter must be strictly controlled from the design stage, anomalies must be identified in advance, and there must be zero tolerance for quality problems.
