Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 14, China celebrated a major milestone as its year-to-date production of new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached 10 million units, making it the first country to achieve this production scale in a single year.

China's NEV industry has seen significant growth. It took the country 27 years to reach the production milestone of the first 10 million units, but only 17 months to double that figure to 20 million units. This remarkable pace continued, with annual NEV production in China surpassing 10 million units in a single year for the first time in just 11 months of 2024.

The significant vehicle is a Courage all-electric SUV from Dongfeng Motor's premium NEV brand VOYAH. As a leading high-end electric model, the Courage embodies the innovation behind Dongfeng Motor's strategy of launching three vehicle types in three years, and four models in four years.

Positioned as a high-end, smart electric mid-sized SUV, the Courage is built on an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, offering up to 901 kilometers of range—the longest in its class—and a fast 5C charging rate.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
