Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On November 14, Xiaomi EV announced four pre-research smart chassis technologies: Xiaomi Full Active Suspension, Xiaomi Hyper Quad-Motor System, Xiaomi 48V Brake-by-Wire System, and Xiaomi 48V Steer-by-Wire System. According to Xiaomi founder Lei Jun, the innovations enable the car to "dance, turn on the spot, and even perform a compass turn."

In a 14-minute presentation video, Lei Jun provided an in-depth overview of these advanced chassis systems. He emphasized that in the era of intelligent vehicles, the smart chassis, along with intelligent driving and smart cockpit, constitute the "new three key components" of future automobiles.

Mr. Lei highlighted that these pre-research technologies not only significantly enhance ride comfort and driving dynamics but also represent Xiaomi EV's forward-looking vision for intelligent chassis development. The goal is to support fully autonomous driving and integrate the vehicle seamlessly into Xiaomi's "Human x Car x Home" ecosystem, creating a comprehensive digital foundation for future smart mobility.

Xiaomi Full-Active Suspension

Xiaomi's Full Active Suspension features a powerful 4.6 kW motor at each wheel, paired with dual-valve CDC (Continuous Damping Control). Unlike the semi-active suspension systems using air springs and CDC combinations, this setup delivers zero bump, zero body roll, and zero pitch, providing superior comfort during everyday driving and exceptional stability in extreme conditions.

The active suspension is integrated into Xiaomi's "Human x Car x Home" ecosystem, capable of choreographing suspension movements. Leveraging road preview and cloud data, it can anticipate and adjust in advance for optimal ride quality.

Xiaomi Hyper Quad-Motor System

Xiaomi's Hyper Quad-Motor System consists of two newly developed front motors and two V8s rear motors, delivering a combined output of 2,054 PS. The system's compact design and precise control capabilities push the boundaries of electric drive technology, allowing for unparalleled power and agility.

48V Brake-by-Wire System

Xiaomi Auto has introduced the world's first 48V full-dry brake-by-wire system, upgrading the low-voltage system from 12V to 48V. This reduces low-voltage power losses by 75%, resulting in faster response times and improved safety. The higher voltage provides greater bandwidth, meeting the rising demand for high-power components in intelligent vehicles.

Xiaomi achieved two major breakthroughs with its 48V brake-by-wire system. First, it features “full-dry” electric calipers, where the motor-driven piston clamps the brake disc, enabling precise electronic control. Second, it debuts a dual-piston electronic brake caliper design, further enhancing braking performance.

48V Steer-by-Wire System

Xiaomi's 48V Steer-by-Wire technology decouples the steering wheel from the wheels, inherently supporting fully autonomous driving capabilities. This system offers improved steering precision and flexibility, allowing for safer and more efficient vehicle control.
