Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On November 12, GAC AION revealed the official images of its third global strategic model, the AION UT, ahead of its debut at the upcoming Auto Guangzhou 2024. The new model, positioned as an A-segment battery electric vehicle (BEV), boasts a wheelbase exceeding 2,750 mm and is expected to be priced around 100,000 yuan.

The AION UT showcases a fresh design language, featuring a closed-off front grille paired with adorable headlights, giving the vehicle a stylish and modern appeal. The short front and rear overhangs, along with a sleek, rounded profile, contribute to its futuristic and tech-forward appearance.

From the side, the AION UT is equipped with flush-mounted, recessed door handles and newly designed low-drag alloy wheels, enhancing its aerodynamic efficiency. The charging port is conveniently located on the front right side of the vehicle. At the rear, the car sports similarly rounded, eye-catching taillights and a clean, minimalist tailgate design that enhances its visual impact.

In terms of dimensions, the AION UT measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.

The interior continues GAC AION's family design elements, featuring a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a fully digital instrument panel, and a large floating central display. The rounded rectangular details on the air vents and door handles add a touch of elegance, while the dual-tone color scheme gives the cabin a trendy, stylish vibe.

The AION UT has already received approval from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT"). Under the hood, the model is powered by a 100 kW electric motor, allowing for a top speed of 150 km/h. The vehicle is equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by Yinpai Battery Technology.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
