Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On November 6, SAIC Motor's MG brand officially put its new compact all-electric SUV model, the MG ES5, onto the market, offering five trim levels with prices ranging from 116,900 yuan to 146,900 yuan. Built on SAIC's Nebula BEV (battery electric vehicle)-dedicated architecture, the MG ES5 features a single-motor drive system and delivers a maximum range of up to 525 km.

The MG ES5 introduces the brand's fresh design language. The front end features a split headlight setup, with sleek daytime running lights on top and a headlight unit integrated with the air intake below, forming an "X" shape for a dynamic and stylish look.

The SUV's side profile is sharply defined, with taut lines that create a strong, powerful stance and well-proportioned dimensions. Measuring 4,476 mm in length, 1,849 mm in width, and 1,621 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,730 mm, the MG ES5 presents a balanced and robust appearance.

At the rear, a multi-layered design includes a top spoiler, full-width taillight bar, and sporty rear diffuser, giving the vehicle a structured and stylish finish.

Inside, the MG ES5 offers a wraparound cockpit design in two color options: Doll Beige and Maine Gray. The minimalist interior, aligned with modern tastes, includes a fully digital instrument cluster and a floating center screen, lending a tech-focused feel. Physical buttons are minimal, with most functions controlled via the center touchscreen. The vehicle is equipped with the MAX version of the Zebra intelligent infotainment system, which supports continuous voice interaction for up to 90 seconds.

In terms of power performance, the MG ES5 features a rear-wheel-drive system with 125 kW of power and 250 Nm of peak torque, achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in 8 seconds. Depending on the configuration, the CLTC-rated range options are 425 km, 515 km, and 525 km. For advanced driving assistance, the MG ES5 comes with the MG Pilot system, which enables intelligent driving functions on elevated roads and highways.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
