Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD recently released official images of its latest MPV model, the Xia, which displays the final version of its Chinese-character badge. This new MPV, now opens for blind pre-orders, is set to hit the market by the end of this year.

The Xia's front end features BYD's signature "Dragon Face" design, with a bold "dragon whisker" trim accenting a large grille, lending the vehicle a powerful presence. Inside the grille, dragon scale armor-inspired detailing adds a layered, dynamic look, while the oversized air intakes on both sides amplify the aggressive styling.

As for the side profile, the Xia follows a traditional MPV shape with a straight roofline, maximizing headroom for passengers.

At the rear, the vehicle sports a sleek, full-width light bar and a small spoiler, adding a touch of sportiness to the design.

Under the hood, the Xia is powered by BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid system, featuring a 1.5T engine paired with a plug-in hybrid setup. Equipped with a 38 kWh battery, the MPV offers a range of 145 km on battery power alone, with fuel consumption rated at just 6.5 liters per 100 km.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
