Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On November 6, the AION RT, the second global-oriented strategic model under GAC AION, officially hit the market. Coming with five trim levels, the model features a guidance price range of 119,800 yuan to 165,800 yuan.

The exterior of the AION RT showcases a clean, aerodynamic look. Up front, it sports a closed-off grille, a signature feature of electric vehicles, paired with smoked headlights integrated with lenses for a sophisticated appearance. Muscle lines on either side of the hood lend a touch of athleticism, while the lower section adopts a segmented design with compact air ducts and a trapezoidal intake, enhancing both aerodynamics and sportiness.

Along the sides, the AION RT has a sleek fastback silhouette. To maximize rear headroom, the C-pillar slightly rises, giving the profile a fuller look. The full-length waistline stretches from the front fender to the rear, adding depth to the side view, and pop-out door handles minimize air resistance. The car is fitted with striking, dual-tone three-spoke wheels, which add a unique flair to its style.

At the rear, a subtle ducktail adorns the trunk, complemented by smoked, horizontally-aligned taillights. While not in the trendy full-width style, they fit the design's understated elegance. The license plate area is recessed, creating a layered rear profile, with a high-gloss black panel and flat fog lights adding a finishing touch.

In terms of size, the AION RT measures 4,865 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height, with a 2,775 mm wheelbase, placing it in the mid-size sedan category.

Inside, the cabin layout is minimalist and functional, featuring a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, floating center display, and electronic column-mounted shifter. The center console includes cup holders and a wireless charging pad, with a hollowed-out section below for ample storage.

Standard features on the AION RT include tire pressure monitoring, auto parking, hill-start assist, 360-degree cameras, cruise control, keyless entry, one-touch start, automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, power-adjustable front seats with ventilation and heating, foldable rear seats, a heat pump air conditioning system, and rear air vents.

The two higher-spec trims offer advanced smart driving capabilities, equipped with a 126-line LiDAR, NVIDIA Orin-X chipset with 254 TOPS computing power, and a high-level HD map-free NDA (navigation-based driving assistance) solution backed by end-to-end technology.

On the power performance front, the AION RT is powered by either a 150 kW or 165 kW electric motor, both with a peak torque of 240 Nm. The vehicle offers two battery options, with capacities of 55.1 kWh and 68.1 kWh, delivering CLTC range estimates of 520 km and 650 km, respectively. The AION RT can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 to 7.9 seconds, depending on the configuration.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
