Shandong's Renewable and New Energy Sources Now Largest Power Supply, With 110 Operating Energy Storage Projects

【110 Operating Projects for New-type Energy Storage! Renewable and New Energy Sources Become Shandong's Largest Power Supply】According to SMM, as of late October, Shandong's installed capacity of renewable and new energy power generation amounted to 106.426 million kW, historically surpassing coal-fired power for the first time to become the largest type of power supply in the province, marking a significant shift in Shandong's energy structure, which was previously dominated by coal.
As of now, renewable and new energy sources in Shandong account for 46.9% of the total installed capacity, coal-fired power for 46.88%, energy storage for 2.63%, natural gas for 0.57%, and waste heat and other sources for 3.02%. In just the first three quarters of this year, the installed capacity of renewable energy increased by 10.984 million kW. The province's renewable energy installed capacity surpassed the planned target for the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan" period by over 20 million kW, more than double that at the end of the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. The newly added clean energy generation accounted for more than half of the increment in electricity consumption across the society.
