Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On November 1, BYD marked the third anniversary of its Ocean Series with a user festival at its global headquarters, which came on the heels of the series' cumulative sales exceeding 3.5 million vehicles. At the event, BYD outlined ambitious plans for Ocean Series' future innovation, including new model categories, technical upgrades, and enhanced user experiences. It also announced plans to expand its "Seal" and "Sealion" product lines, revealing that a new station wagon model will soon debut under the Seal line, alongside a fresh product line and a new MPV model.
Since its founding in 2021, the Ocean Series has driven advancements in new automobile categories and technology. Models like the Dolphin, which debuted the e-Platform 3.0 and is BYD's first model to carry heat pump system as standard facility, and the Seagull, the A00 segment's bestseller with advanced new energy technology, have become standout successes in their respective segments. The Song PLUS DM-i, one of the first models to feature the DM-i super hybrid technology, also saw strong sales in the plug-in hybrid electric SUV market. The Sealion 07 EV, the first model built on the upgraded e-Platform 3.0 Evo, aims to offer users better fast charging experience.
The Ocean Series now spans four major product lines—Seagull, Dolphin, Seal, and Sealion—as well as the Song PLUS, covering the mainstream price range of 70,000 yuan to 300,000 yuan.
Looking forward, the Ocean Series will build a full product matrix ranging from A-segment to D-segment models, centering SUVs under the Sealion line and sedans under the Seal lineup to meet diverse consumer needs. The upcoming models will also introduce built-in refrigerator features, offering a new level of comfort for eco-friendly travel. Additionally, a refreshed Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language is set to bring an elevated aesthetic experience to future models.
The automaker also announced plans to equip upcoming Ocean Series' models with an 800V high-voltage platform, enabling charging speeds on par with refueling, and aims to enhance performance with mass-produced motors exceeding 23,000 RPM.
BYD’s total sales reached over 3.25 million vehicles in the first ten months of this year, marking a 37% year-on-year jump. Notably, its monthly sales surpassed 200,000 units for the first time in October, underscoring BYD's strong momentum in the new energy vehicle market.
