Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 4, FAW-Volkswagen's new Tayron L rolled off the production line at the automaker's Tianjin plant, marking the official SOP (start of production) for this redesigned model.

This generation features a significant overhaul in design, offering both standard and R-Line variants with expanded dimensions.

The all-new Tayron L introduces two front-end designs, one for the standard version and another for the sportier R-Line. Key differences between the variants lie in the front and rear bumpers, wheels, and body colors. The new Tayron L measures 4,684 mm (4,695 mm for R-Line) in length, 1,854 mm (1,866 mm for R-Line) in width, and 1,685 mm (1,684 mm for R-Line) in height, with a 2,791 mm wheelbase—60 mm longer than the previous Tayron.

Inside, the new Tayron L resembles the Tiguan L PRO, featuring a 15-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a Qualcomm 8155 chip supporting a 2K screen with CarPlay and CarLife. It also incorporates iFlytek's voice assistant, enabling accurate voice recognition in both driver and passenger zones. A dedicated passenger screen provides additional entertainment options unique to the Chinese market.

Available in 5- and 7-seat configurations, the new Tayron L offers heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, while second-row seats have heating and ventilation. A premium Harman Kardon audio system is also included.

Power options include a 1.5T turbocharged engine for the 300TSI variant, delivering 160 hp (118 kW) and 250 Nm, and a 2.0T engine for the 380TSI variant, generating 220 hp (162 kW) and 350 Nm, both paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

The new vehicle is equipped with intelligent driving system from Zhuoyu (previously known as DJI Automotive), the IQ.Pilot system, supporting L2+ smart driving features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, and automated emergency maneuvers. It also offers one-touch automatic parking and remote-controlled parking.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
