In September 2024, China's copper foil import value was 127.0786 million US dollars, down 5.73% YoY and down 7.92% MoM. From January to September 2024, China's cumulative copper foil import value was 1.1818727 billion US dollars, up 9.56% YoY.
In September 2024, China's copper foil export volume was approximately 4,059.49 mt, up 0.20% YoY and down 12.06% MoM. From January to September 2024, China's cumulative copper foil export volume was about 37,611.11 mt, up 4.83% YoY.
In September 2024, China's copper foil export value was 51.0539 million US dollars, up 9.99% YoY and down 11.67% MoM. From January to September 2024, China's cumulative copper foil export value was 460.2029 million US dollars, up 8.92% YoY.
In September 2024, both China's copper foil import and export volumes declined, with a trade deficit of approximately 76.02 million US dollars, down about 4.19 million US dollars MoM from August 80.21 million US dollars.
By country, the main import sources for China's copper foil (excluding copper alloy foil) in September 2024 were China Taiwan, Malaysia, and South Korea, with import volumes of 3,790.75 mt, 714.56 mt, and 452.31 mt, respectively.
The main export destinations for China's copper foil (excluding copper alloy foil) in September 2024 were Thailand, South Korea, and Egypt, with export volumes of 669.74 mt, 576.91 mt, and 368.53 mt, respectively.
In September, both import and export volumes of China's copper foil declined. Since Q3, the import volume of copper foil from China Taiwan has decreased, mainly due to China's suspension of tariff reductions on imports from China Taiwan starting in H2. In terms of exports, the decline was mainly in exports to Thailand.
In October, domestic order increments are expected to be limited, and some downstream sectors halted production during the National Day holiday, making a significant increase in import volume unlikely. In the overseas market, with the holiday approaching, downstream sectors are expected to stock up before the holiday, potentially leading to an increase in export volume in October.
