Beijing (Gasgoo)- On October 22, at the TANK autumn technology launch event, Great Wall Motor’s TANK brand officially unveiled its longitudinal dual-motor hybrid architecture, Hi4-Z.

“The launch of Hi4-Z is driven by our understanding of users’ frequent driving scenarios, which are primarily urban commutes and paved outdoor roads. These users value electric performance over extreme off-road challenges but still desire outdoor adventures,” stated Gu Yukun, Executive Vice President of the TANK brand.

To cater to this user need, TANK has introduced Hi4-Z, offering a superior solution that balances urban mobility and mild off-roading. Hi4-Z is positioned as an off-road platform with extended range, featuring a large 59.05 kWh battery. It offers a battery-powered range of over 200 km under WLTC conditions, which is sufficient for a week’s urban commuting.

Hi4-Z's transmission integrates over 30 patented structural designs, embedding the planetary gear and motor system to create the world's shortest longitudinal 3-speed hybrid setup. Despite its compact size, it delivers better efficiency than single-speed hybrid systems, optimizing space for the battery and extending the vehicle's range.

Additionally, the Hi4-Z platform utilizes high-energy-density ternary lithium batteries with an energy density of 234 Wh/kg, a discharge power of 600 kW, and a maximum fast-charging rate of 163 kW, allowing for 120 km of additional range in just 15 minutes of charging. With a total system output of 715 kW, the platform enables 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 4 seconds.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
