Beijing (Gasgoo)- On October 24, 2024, Aptiv, a global technology company focusing on safer, greener, and more connected mobility, announced that it has reached a final agreement to invest approximately 570 million yuan in Chinese intelligent driving technology company MAXIEYE. Following the investment, Aptiv will hold an 18% stake of MAXIEYE, making it the largest shareholder of the Chinese company.

Founded in 2016, MAXIEYE is a provider of intelligent driving and smart mobility solutions in China, offering proprietary BEV (Bird’s Eye View) platform architecture and intelligent data systems. The company provides cross-platform ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and ADS (Autonomous Driving Systems) solutions for various driving scenarios and conditions. MAXIEYE currently employs over 300 staff members, with more than 70% focused on research and development.

The partnership will allow MAXIEYE to serve as Aptiv’s key vision perception software partner in China, supporting the development of flexible, cost-effective, and modular smart driving solutions. This collaboration aims to enhance Aptiv’s presence and innovation in the rapidly growing Chinese ADAS market.

Dr. Yang Xiaoming, President of Aptiv China and Asia Pacific, emphasized the strategic significance of the investment: “With the accelerating trend of intelligent driving in China, the deployment volume of ADAS in new vehicles is increasing, and technologies such as L2+ autonomous driving, AI, and end-to-end smart driving are advancing rapidly. Aptiv has deep expertise in ADAS engineering and has gained significant mass-production experience in the Chinese market. By investing in MAXIEYE, we aim to tailor solutions specifically for China, helping to drive the widespread adoption of intelligent driving in the country.”

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
