The first batch of 20 BYD electric buses officially rolled off the production line in South Africa, and the related ceremony was held at the Qingdao factory. This marks the progress of the 120 electric bus order reached between BYD and the well-known South African bus operator Golden Arrow Bus Services. The first batch of electric buses is expected to start delivery within the year and complete all deliveries next year.
As early as 2021, BYD conducted comprehensive and rigorous live tests with Golden Arrow Bus Services, involving full-load simulations and extreme challenges on steep sections of Cape Town roads. These customized buses, specifically designed for South Africa's climate and transportation needs, will be added to Golden Arrow Bus Services' existing fleet. Each electric bus is 12.5 meters long, designed with 65 seats, and equipped with BYD's self-developed lithium iron phosphate batteries and six-in-one controllers.
