【SMM Daily Commentary on Hot-rolled Coil: Inventory Reduction in Major Cities - Will Futures Rebound?】Today, the hot-rolled coil futures market experienced a volatile decline, with the main contract closing at 3587, down 0.97%, and the spot market transactions remained sluggish. From the supply side, this week's impact of hot-rolled coil maintenance amounted to 216,400 tonnes, a decrease of 19,800 tonnes from the previous week, indicating that the short-term increase in output is modest, and supply elasticity remains acceptable. On the demand side, despite frequent macroeconomic fluctuations recently, translating them into actual demand will take time, and a strong performance is unlikely in the short term. In terms of costs, according to SMM research, the daily average molten iron output at steel mills has risen by 13,000 tonnes compared to the previous month, with steel mill profits recovering and cost support remaining relatively solid in the short term. On balance, the fundamentals of hot-rolled coil are not under significant pressure for now. Today's released city inventory data shows a consistent and good trend of inventory reduction, but it is not sufficient to drive prices upwards. Before macroeconomic factors are proven or disproven, market expectations persist, and prices may fluctuate within a range.
