Sodium-ion Battery Goes Global: Lepu Sodium-ion Battery Signs Energy Storage System Agreement with Zambia's Ruida Mine" On October 12, 2024, Lepu Sodium-ion Battery signed a power purchase and sale agreement with Zambia's Ruida Mine for a 20MW photovoltaic power station and a 25MW/50MWh energy storage system. Zambia's power structure relies heavily on hydropower, accounting for over 86% of its electricity generation, while the country also boasts superior sunshine conditions with an annual sunshine duration exceeding 2,200 hours. This project will apply highly efficient N-type modules in the photovoltaic system, maximizing the conversion of solar energy into clean and sustainable electricity, enabling the mine to operate at full capacity during daylight hours. Additionally, the 25MW/50MWh sodium-ion battery energy storage system will ensure stable power supply in Zambia during the night and enable flexible switching between grid-connected and off-grid modes through an advanced Energy Management System (EMS).
