Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 14, the Paris Motor Show 2024 opened at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, with BYD making a prominent appearance. The company displayed several car models, including the BYD SEALION 7 (named Sealion 07 EV in China), which officially hit the European market during the event.

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD and President of BYD Americas, highlighted the company's commitment to innovation, stating, "As a global leader in new energy technology, BYD has spent the past 30 years advancing through technological innovation to meet people's desire for a better life. Innovation is in BYD's DNA. We have the world's largest automotive R&D team, with nearly 110,000 R&D staff members across 11 R&D centers worldwide. We will continue to provide European customers with products that combine design, technology, and efficiency, offering leading solutions for green mobility.”

The European debut of the BYD SEALION 7 drew significant attention from both media and consumers. Combining sporty performance, stylish design, advanced technology, a spacious cabin, and intelligent driving capabilities, the model aligns with the European market's demand for practicality and eco-friendliness in sporty family vehicles, said BYD.

The design of the BYD SEALION 7, crafted by BYD's Design Director Wolfgang Egger, follows the brand's marine-themed aesthetic. It features dual U-shaped floating headlights and deeply sculpted curves that evoke the movement of ocean waves, creating a dynamic yet elegant look. The first batch of vehicles is expected to be delivered to European customers by the end of the year.

In addition to the SEALION 7, BYD displayed several other key models at the Paris Motor Show 2024. Making their debut in France were the YANGWANG U8 and the Seal. European attendees also had the opportunity to try out the Dolphin, the BYD ATTO 3 (named Yuan PLUS in China), and the SEAL U DM-i (named Song PLUS DM-i in China), which features BYD's innovative super hybrid technology.

Over the past two years, BYD has successfully expanded into more than 20 countries and regions across Europe, offering a diverse lineup of hatchbacks, sedans, and SUVs. These include the Yuan PLUS, Dolphin, Seal, Tang EV, Song PLUS EV, and Song PLUS DM-i, all of which have earned the five-star safety rating from the European Union.

To date, BYD's new energy vehicles (NEVs) have entered 95 countries and regions worldwide. In September this year, the company celebrated a significant milestone by rolling off its 9 millionth NEV, making BYD the first automaker globally to achieve this feat.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
